Privacy, and who made this
Heidstart is a maths game for primary pupils, P1 to P7, built on Scotland's Curriculum for Excellence. It's made by an independent developer in Scotland. It has no adverts, and we don't sell or share anyone's information.
Playing at home
- No account, no sign-up and no name needed (a family account is optional: see below).
- Without a family account, your child's progress (levels, stars and settings) is saved only on the device they play on, and nothing about them is sent to us.
- No tracking or advertising cookies.
- Like any website, the game's pages are delivered by a hosting service (Cloudflare) and its lettering by Google Fonts, which see the device's internet address to send them. We don't receive or keep it.
Family accounts (optional)
- A parent or carer can make a free family account on the parents' page with their email address and a password.
- For each child we keep only what you type: a first name or nickname, and their stage (P1 to P7).
- On a device you link to your child, the game saves their answers so you can see their progress. Only you can see it.
- The weekly email is off until you switch it on, and every email has a one-click stop link.
- Removing a child deletes their answers straight away. Deleting your account deletes everything, straight away.
- This is stored securely in the UK (London) by our database provider, Supabase.
Playing at school
- A teacher sets up their class with each pupil's first name and initial, and a 4-digit PIN.
- When a pupil plays signed in to their class, their answers are saved so their teacher can see how they're getting on. Only their teacher (and their school) can see them. Nobody else, including other pupils, can.
- This is stored securely in the UK (London) by our database provider, Supabase.
- The school is in charge of its pupils' information: ask your child's teacher if you have questions about it, or want it removed.
Weekly emails for parents
- Only if you ask for one, with the code from your child's slip, and confirm by email.
- We keep your email address only to send it. Every email has a one-click link to stop it, which removes your address.
